Redline

Picture
Americans typically live their lives on the red line. They take everything to the limit—push it to the max. This is especially true of our time and our finances. The smallest hiccup can cause the whole thing to crumble. We wonder why we are all stressed out and why we can’t seem to find the resources for important things like spending time with God, supporting His work, and being with family and friends. Jesus, however, modeled a life where He invested Himself wholeheartedly but repeatedly stepped back from the redline. The Bible also speaks to margin in our lives with regard to our time and our finances. This in the things that are most important in life.

3.  Speed Limit

JAN 23--One of the easiest areas of life to redline in is with regard to our time. Our tendency is to fill up our time in the attempt to get more and more in. The irony is, more we cram in, the less we have. God knows about this tendency we have and so has given us some speed limits to prevent life from going by in a blur and keep us from missing out on the important
stuff.

2.  Take this Exit

JAN 16--The push to redline in our finances is both an internal one as well as an external one. There is a typical cycle that happens as a result. In the end, we get more in debt, work longer hours, can't invest in Kingdom things, and we have no cushion for the unexpected. In this message, we'll talk about how to get off the highway that our culture is on with regard to handling finances.
  • Is your money yours or God's?
  • Do you manage your finances the world's way or God's way?

1.  Your Personal Redline

JAN 9--You and I have limits—a personal redline. As much as we wish it weren't so, it's true. We are limited in our time, our finances, our emotional and physical energy. We were not designed to live at our redline. God designed us to have margin in our lives. Jesus modeled a lifestyle of backing away from the redline. At the end of the day, it's not about whether we got to everything on our list but that we put the important stuff in first. Check out what God's priorities are for you and how you can back away from the redline in your own life. Also, find out what Scooby Doo has to do with all of this.
