Hospitality Teams

When visitors come through our door, their first few minutes among us shape their critical first impressions of us and of the God whom we represent. Before the service starts, newcomers determine things like whether they feel accepted or judged, whether Christians are friendly or cold, and if there are potential friends here—and their opinion of us shapes their opinion of God. If we seem cold to them, they’re more likely to feel God is disinterested in them. If they’re important to us, they’re more likely to feel important to God. During these first few minutes, their anxiety level mounts or dissolves. Their walls go up or come down. Before the first praise song is sung, they have already decided whether or not they will come back. We make a big impact with simple things like smiles, coffee, and gentle hellos.

Ways to serve:  coffee bar barista, greeter, usher

Baristas

The Vision
We put a cup of java in the hands of the first timers, smile, and help them feel welcomed. We try to make attendees feel comfortable so they can put their walls down and meet with God. Who would’ve thought a shot of espresso or cup of tea could be so powerful?

The Commitment--Serve at least once a month (2.5-3 hours), meet twice a year, communicate via email.

Greeters

The Vision--We smile, shake hands, answer questions, and help people feel welcome. Sometimes it's the little things that make room for our big God to move.

The Commitment--Serve at least two services a month, meet every few months, communicate via email.

Ushers

The Vision--We help create positive first impressions and limit distractions, so people can relax in the friendly environment we've helped create, connect with God, and glorify Him. Ushers do simple things—hand out programs, help people find their seats, handle emergencies, setting up chairs, and generally accommodating people’s needs.

The Commitment--Serve at least two services a month, attend occasional meetings, communicate via email.
