About joining the teams

In order to join any of the teams below, you'd:
  • Fill out the children's ministry application (to the right).
  • Fill out and hand in your background check consent form to the office.
  • Meet with Julie for one hour for interview and training.
  • Sign up and start serving!

Nursery
Vision--We get to accomplish two things simultaneously in the nursery:  we give exhausted parents "alone time" with God (some may make Jesus their Savior on our watch!), and we show Jesus’ love to babies by playing with them, worshiping Jesus with them, and praying over them.

Commitment--Nursery workers sign up quarterly to serve at four services of their choice.

Skills Needed
  • Color with crayons, stack blocks, read board books
  • Cuddle with or sing to a sad baby
  • Change diapers (women only!)
Check-In (school-year or summer)
Vision--We help keep our children safe at Anchor Point by giving time-stamped check-out stickers to the adult who checks in a child (this way, random adults cannot check out a child because they won’t have the proper check-out sticker). We also get to greet new families.

Commitment--Check-in people serve 1-3 times per month (depending on best fit for you) for either the school-year or summer.

Skills Needed
  • Type and manage a computer mouse
  • Smile and be friendly
Small- or Large-Group Leader or Helper (school-year or summer)
Vision--Children can be passionate disciples of Jesus—in some ways, better than adults. We love children and want to join God in showing them how deeply He loves them and helping them grow as well-rounded disciples.
  • Small-group leaders get to build relationships with a small, age-specific group of students, dig into God’s Word and explore what it means in their everyday lives, and sometimes mentor a helper to be a future small-group leader. Groups are organized by age:  toddlers, preK-K, gr 1-3, and gr 4-5.
  • Large-group leaders get to guide students (preK-5th graders) in an attention-grabbing introduction to the weeks’ Bible story through enthusiastic worship videos, skits, object lessons, and experiments.
  • Helpers assist the leaders in their groups, focusing on building relationships with students and learning how to lead.
Commitment--Leaders and helpers serve twice a month or every week (depending on the best fit for you) for the school year or for the summer.

Skills needed
  • Love children!
  • Be teachable
  • Be growing in your relationship with Jesus
  • Have teaching ability
