When talking about leading anything, most people give an answer like Moses and Gideon
did—“you’ve got the wrong person!” Yet we all long for God to use us in a great ways like He
did those two men of old. The reality is that God does extraordinary things through ordinary
people like you and me. We simply have to be available for God to use. God wants to use
you to transform lives. Leading a Life Group is one of the easiest and most accessible ways
a person at Anchor Point Church can allow God to use them for His Kingdom. It is a great
way to connect people to God and to other people.
The Vision of Life Groups
Recently, George Gallup did a poll and found that 70% of Americans say the Church is not
meeting their needs. Their top six needs were to:
- believe that life is meaningful and has purpose
- have a sense of community and deeper relationships
- be appreciated and respected
- be listened to and heard
- grow in faith
- receive practical help in developing a mature faith

Sunday morning services are a gift from God. We definitely need to worship together. However, the truth is people get
these six needs met best in smaller circles of on-going relationships. This is where a small-groups ministry, called
“Life Groups” at Anchor Point, comes in. In small groups, people can get close enough to really know, care for,
encourage, support, and confide in one another. They can laugh and weep together, be accountable to each other,
and watch over each other. In this environment, the Holy Spirit can do a deeper work in a person’s life—deepening
their relationship with God and also with other people.
Followers of Christ need to be willing to become small group leaders. Without small groups, growing our relationship
with God and with other people is dramatically hampered. In turn, there are no small groups unless there are small
group leaders. Finally, there are no small group leaders unless Christians step forward to create and lead a small
group.
Will you be that person who steps forward to be a life group leader at Anchor Point?
