Here vs. Home
What if this life is not what it is all about? If we aren't home yet, then
where is home? what is it like? Why would I want to go there? For those
who are followers of Jesus, home is ahead of us, and we gain meaning
and joy in our lives as we uncover just where our journey is leading us!
After hearing the message:
- Where are you making your home?
- Have you booked passage to your real home?
- How would your life be different if you were truly living in light of
heaven?
- In what ways will you protect yourself from getting too comfortable
in an inconvenient motel?
Socks and Hand Sanitizer
You know the drill: you don't take your socks off until you get into bed,
because you don't want your bare feet on that nasty carpet. You wash
your hands regularly--who knows where that phone has been? In an
inconvenient motel, you can have a great time, but you need to do some
things differently than you would at home. In this message, we explore
how we can view our life with joyful expectation, but still not live like we
are home!
After hearing the message:
- Are you friendlier with your inconvenient motel or your home?
- In what ways do you protect yourself from becoming “at home” in
your motel room? (What are your socks and hand sanitizer?)
- Are you engaging your destiny?
- How can you enjoy life on the road? (preview question)
Road Trip
You have to love a great road trip! Of course, everyone knows that
sometimes you hit snags while ticking off the miles, but that is not what
we truly remember on a epic trip. Join us as we look at ten awesome
perspectives that can help us build a memorable, eternity-changing road
trip out of our journey home!
A Door to Hope
"Are we there yet? How much longer?" These and dozens of related
expressions point out the challenge of maintaining a perspective that
helps us manage the long journey home. What holds us together
through those long miles? Hope! Hope is both indispensable and easy to
lose. In "A Door to Hope" we explore the ways God gives us to find,
grow, and refine the hope that carries us home!
After hearing the message:
- Are the benefits of hope evident in your life? Why or why not?
- Which of the five ways of building hope are you experiencing right
now?
- Which of the hope builders do you find yourself resisting?
- When you get home, you will “have it all.” How are you doing with
what you have now?

Someone once said that in light of eternity,
our lives here on earth are like fifteen
minutes in an inconvenient motel. You have
probably stayed in one of those places. You
know, the ones that have hair in the
bathtub, toenail clippings under the bed,
and a carpet stained with the experiences of the hundreds before you who have walkedits
surface. Nobody wants to get completely at home in that place. In this series we will explore
the meaning of home, life, and road trips!
