Living out Loud
May 11-June 29

Behind the Scenes
The letter we read in the Bible that is called 1 Peter is not a textbook or a
dry, empty treatise on faith. Instead, it is a letter, born out of the life and
love of a man who knew Jesus, betrayed Him, served Him, and ultimately
passionately followed Him and called others to join him on that adventure!
So Heavenly Minded...
"You have to get your head in the game!" Ever hear those words? Maybe
they were voiced by a teacher, coach, employer, family member or friend.
The point is, you can't get things done and pursue the course unless you
are focused in the right place. So, where does our head need to be if we
want to really live like Peter, love like Jesus, and change the lives of those
around us?
...That You Are Earthly Good
Are we to be heavenly minded? Sure, but Peter reminds us that even with
heaven as our hope and our home we still have a job to do here on earth.
The job requires us to understand what it means to be a Christ-follower
and what it means for us to be collected together in this thing called a
church. A clear understanding of these principles helps us define our role
in bringing hope and living right here on earth!
Getting Upside Down
The way of the world is power. Whoever wields the most power, exerts the
most influence, or overwhelms the most people wins! We see it in politics,
our workplaces, and even our own friends and family. God’s way of
approaching life is different than ours. His plan is to turn things upside
down. Instead of power from above, what happens if we serve from below?
Turning the Family Upside Down
What, the battle of the sexes in my house? Who wears the pants in your
family? Who controls what you do, what you spend, and where you go?
Interesting questions. . . Will your family live world-side up or upside
down?
The Blessed Life
Isn't a blessed life diametrically opposed to suffering? Just avoid
suffering, and you'll have a happy, fulfilled life, right? Think again--and
check out what Peter has to say about that.
Get an Attitude
Ever feel like quitting? Does it seem that pushing on is pointless? Wonder
if you can keep going? All of us have been there at one time or another.
What if, in the darkest times, you found a way to think and live that gave
you hope for victory rather than a sense of futility? In his letter, Peter tells
us how to get that attitude!
Well Done!
Don’t you want to make a difference? Inside our hearts, isn’t there a
desire to have your life stand for something, something that will last?
Peter concludes his letter with a challenge to live with the end in view—to
make choices that result in a life well done.

One of the greatest movements of
history was the birth, establishment,
and expansion of the people called out
to follow Jesus. The leaders of that
movement were ordinary individuals
who figured out how to radically love
Jesus, radically live out their love, and
radically change the world around them.
In this series, we explore the kind of
values and attitudes that bring Jesus to
life in the world around us!
