What is 4.4.40?

It's a neighboring initiative steeped in prayer and culminating in outreach. This year, our 40 days are Tues, March 26 through Sat, May 4.
  • DAY ONE   Worship night at Anchor Point, 6:30-8:00
  • DAYS 1-39  Pray for our city at 4pm for 4 minutes
  • DAY 40   Neighborhood outreach:  hosting a kids' carnival, doing projects for neighbors, building a community garden

Why all the prayer and worship? Why not just the outreach day when loving our neighbors?

Because we need God's heart for our neighbors--and He changes our heart when we spend time communing with Him. And because we need His Spirit to guide us and go before us!

We don't want to get programmatic. We need God's heart and guidance. As we submit to Him and connect with Him for forty days prior to our large outreach, He will give us His heart for our neighborhood.

We want to couple powerful things:  prayer, praise, and outreach! Most of all, we want to see what God can do through us for our neighbors.

God is at work in our city

We're excited about what God is doing in our city, and we we want to join with Him in it.  That's why we want to take time to stop and pray--tuning our hearts in to what He wants us to see and hear. We invite you to join us for 40 days:  to stop at 4pm and pray for 4 minutes. It's that simple.

Why are we doing this?

Jesus said the greatest commandment was to love God, and the second was like it:  to love our neighbors as ourselves. So, simply, we're obeying Him. Secondly, this is a way for our whole church to move together in our core values (especially net) and be fishers of men by building bridges for people--our bridge there (serving our neighbors on their property) and our bridge back (hosting a carnival and garden on our land).
